Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly experienced 1 SOPS Crew Commander Course Developer to design, develop, and deliver advanced training for the U.S. Space Force's 1st Space Operations Squadron (1 SOPS). This role is critical in building comprehensive training products and instructional materials that prepare crew commanders to execute orbital warfare operations. The Course Developer will create curriculum products, assessments, and scenarios that reflect operational requirements while ensuring compliance with instructional system design (ISD) standards. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape training effectiveness, enhance mission readiness, and influence the development of next-generation space operators.

Key Responsibilities

The 1 SOP Crew Commander Course Developer will:

* Develop comprehensive Plans of Instruction (POIs), lesson plans, training materials, visual aids, and assessments for crew commander training
* Build realistic scenarios, scripts, and simulations to support Orbital Warfare mission training
* Deliver instruction and assist with the certification of 1 SOPS crew commanders
* Ensure compliance with Instructional System Design (ISD) standards and Air Force/Space Force training requirements
* Conduct curriculum reviews and audits to validate accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness
* Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings and training reports to squadron leadership
* Collaborate with government stakeholders, instructors, and mission subject matter experts to align training with operational needs
* Provide technical and instructional expertise during curriculum updates, modernization, and technology integration efforts
* Track and document training outcomes, qualification metrics, and feedback to support continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience

The 1 SOP Crew Commander Course Developer must have:

* Active TS/SCI clearance
* 10+ years of space operations and training experience, including at least 3+ years as a Crew Commander
* Minimum of 1+ year of Orbital Warfare-related experience
* Expertise in instructional system design (ISD) methodologies, curriculum development, and training delivery
* Proven ability to develop POIs, lesson plans, visual aids/PowerPoints, scenarios/scripts, and written assessments/answer keys
* Demonstrated success in designing and delivering qualification training courses in space or DoD operational environments
* Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics, satellite operations, and C2 systems relevant to 1 SOPS missions
* Experience auditing and reviewing curriculum for compliance with standards and training effectiveness
* Experience in creating both classified and unclassified training products that meet OPSEC requirements
* Strong communication, briefing, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to interface with senior leaders, instructors, and operators
* Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate operational requirements into effective training scenarios Ability to capture lessons learned and apply best practices to continuously improve course development and instruction

Education & Certifications

The 1 SOP Crew Commander Course Developer must meet the following:

Required

* Bachelor's degree in Space Operations, Aerospace Studies, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline

Preferred

* Master's degree
* Formal Instructor Certification or equivalent Professional Military Education (e.g., Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College) highly desired
* Instructional Systems Design (ISD) or training development certifications PMP or ITIL certification development and instruction

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
