Duties
Help
  • Independently review all standard and electronic trauma patient medical records.
  • Analyze, validate and assist in management of registry data collection.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of the trauma medical records database.
  • Perform and maintain quality assurance of case-finding, abstracting, and coding of data and follow-up procedures.
  • Perform clinical data abstraction of all state and national data elements.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Candidate is expected obtain and maintain successful completion of the Trauma Registry Course by the American Trauma Society and Injury Scaling Scale Course within one year of employment.
  • Candidate is expected obtain and maintain a certification as a (1) Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR); and (2) Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Coding Specialist (CAISS) within 5 years of employment.
  • The trauma registrar(s) shall obtain 24 trauma specific education hours (TEH) per three- year verification cycle of which 50 percent shall be from an extramural source.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes registering and assisting with medical records for
trauma patients into healthcare systems and compiling reports for the trauma department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
