SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS ENGINEER

Duties
Help

• Supervisory Engineer for Infrastructure and Services. Principal technical advisor for DoD Long Haul telecommunications in Indo-Pacific region; manages DoDIN sustainment and evolution.
• Leads a diverse workforce (military, civilian, contractors) providing professional leadership, guidance, and administrative/technical supervision.
• Leads DISA's DODIN C4 transport systems lifecycle (planning to activation) in Indo-Pacific, supporting DISA PAC, DoD Cyber Defense Command, and USINDOPACOM.
• Assists USINDOPACOM in C4 JWCA development for Joint Staff/OSD. Assesses C4 networks, identifies shortfalls, and proposes new capabilities to meet future requirements.
• Liaison with senior staff at USINDOPACOM, DISA, Joint Staff, DOD/Non-DOD agencies (DIA, NSA, DLA, DOS), and industry on DISA-related matters and organizational efforts.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

GG-0855 Engineer Basic Requirement:
Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:- Professional registration- Written Test- Specified academic courses- Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-15, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience managing and planning the engineering and execution of DoDIN (Department of Defense Information Networks) or DISN (Defense Information System Network) programs and services.

• This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
• If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
• This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
• A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
• This position is subject to completion of 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
