ClearanceJobs is currently partnering with our customer, a technology company that crafts, deploys and operates innovative satellite communications products and services, to assist in hiring Production Support Hardware Engineer on a full time, permanent basis. This position must be performed onsite in Carlsbad, CA. Due to government contract requirements United States Citizenship and an active Secret security clearance is required.
Summary: Support multiple networking communication products currently in production and future Next Generation products within the Government services division. Your responsibilities will include: becoming familiar with the technical design of multiple product lines and working with team members to address a variety of issues, supporting efforts to troubleshoot technical issues from production and the field, supporting qualification efforts for component changes, aiding the transition of prototype units to low rate initial production, lab support and management, setting up and maintaining test and development hardware, and board checkout.
Responsibilities:
• Troubleshooting of complex digital systems (Processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLD, microcontrollers)
• Use of both Windows and Linux operating systems to develop and execute tests
• Work closely with engineers to devise and monitor tests for troubleshooting problem
• Identify rework needed to isolate and/or repair problems
• Integrate and debug design in the laboratory
Required:
• 2-3 years hardware troubleshooting or sustaining experience
• Active SECRET Security Clearance
• Must be able to prioritize, be detail oriented, and have a history of managing time well to accomplish multiple tasks in parallel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
• Ability to document and report on technical solutions/findings
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products for documentation creation and modification
• Familiarity with standard test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
• Desire to be part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
• Ability to travel up to 10% (travel is unlikely for this role)
• Must be able to work 100% on-site in Carlsbad, CA
Desired:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Familiarity with TCL, Perl, Python or another scripting language
• Proven experience in debugging, diagnosing, and solving embedded designs issues
• Familiarity with production-related processes and common failure modes
• High aptitude for learning
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
