Position Overview
The Chief Engineer is responsible to assist the PM in the supervision of the bargaining unit workforce and other personnel, as well as the maintenance, repair, and operation of all equipment assigned to the specific work location. The Chief Engineer will assist to ensure that all systems are functioning efficiently and safely. They will also ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and licensing bodies.

Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Collaborate and work with the Project Manager to plan and execute maintenance and repair projects and provide Project Manager with institutional knowledge of facility.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless project integration.
- Provide technical expertise and support to the engineering team.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Review and approve technical designs, plans, and specifications.
- Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities.
- Ensure the efficient operation of all engineering systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly and effectively.
- Allocate resources efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
- Negotiate with suppliers and contractors for services and equipment.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional travel to project sites and other company locations.
- The Chief Engineer will work in both office and field environments.
- The role may involve working outside of regular business hours to address urgent technical issues or project deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and industrial settings.
Pay rate: $66.10 per hour
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Requirements:
- TS SCI to apply and be able to obtain Yankee White (YW) level clearance.
- Must have and/or be willing to obtain Security + V7 and Network Plus certification, within 45 days.
- Engineer license 1 st class for chief, 3 rd class for lead.
- 10+ years in large government facilities or similar.
- Regular work hours 6-3.
- Be on emergency call availability: 24/7.
- OSHA 30.
- Active driver's license.
- Employees in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Stationary Engineer, First Grade from the State Board of Stationary Engineers Washington DC.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field). A Master's degree or professional engineering certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and industry standards.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using engineering software and tools.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
