About The Role

Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA's Business, National Airspace, and Technical Computing Services (BNATCS) contract. As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation's skies safe and connected.

We're looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world's most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.

At Peraton, you won't just support the mission - you'll define it.

Peraton is seeking talented engineers to support the modernization and sustainment of the National Airspace System (NAS) through advanced wireless telecommunications and FAA surveillance systems. In this role, you will analyze, design, and develop wireless network capabilities and radar systems that are critical to safe and efficient air travel. From building custom applications and optimizing wireless networks to supporting the design, integration, and sustainment of short-to-medium range radar systems, you will directly contribute to the future of U.S. aviation infrastructure.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your RF, radar, and wireless expertise to mission-critical programs that ensure the safety, security, and reliability of the nation's airspace.
Responsibilities
  • Wireless Network Design & Optimization
    • Design, plan, establish, and optimize wireless networks, including RF link performance and reliability.
    • Monitor and analyze statistical and drive test data to improve system KPIs (e.g., dropped calls, blocked calls, handoff features).
    • Apply propagation, cellular, and antenna theory to recommend optimal tower and antenna placements.
    • Conduct GSM frequency planning, capacity planning, and interference analysis; recommend site upgrades and parameter adjustments.
  • Radar & RF Systems Engineering
    • Provide subject matter expertise on radar system design, integration, operations, and lifecycle sustainment.
    • Support FAA surveillance programs with performance analysis, troubleshooting, and modernization planning.
    • Design and evaluate RF subsystems (up/down converters, amplifiers, MMICs, MCMs, TRMs).
    • Conduct modeling, simulation, and test/evaluation plans for RF circuits and propagation.
  • Technical Leadership & Support
    • Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, contractors, and engineering teams to align with mission objectives.
    • Develop software applications and tools to support wireless and RF technologies.
    • Create manuals, technical documentation, and operational support materials.
    • Deliver technical reports, recommendations, and briefings to FAA leadership.
    • Lead or contribute to engineering initiatives that enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of FAA surveillance operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) with 7+ years of related professional experience.
  • Proven, hands-on expertise with short-to-medium range radar systems, including design, integration, testing, or operational support.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform performance analysis and deliver clear, actionable technical recommendations.
  • Recognized as a strong technical contributor who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
