Our professionals are consulted to craft revolutionary business and technical solutions that ensure mission success. Our in-depth industry experience coupled with our technical expertise allows us to deliver timely solutions positioning our clients with a decisive advantage.

Overview
Performs implementation, problem solving, maintenance, and support for data engineering in an agile environment. Applies functional knowledge of data platforms, pipelines, and integration, as well as general industry expertise. Possesses and applies advanced skills across multiple complex assignments, often requiring originality and innovation in how data is collected, transformed, and scaled. Operates with appreciable latitude in designing methodologies and presenting solutions. Contributes to deliverables, performance metrics, and mission outcomes by transforming raw data into meaningful, actionable formats.

Minimum Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or related fields, with at least 4 years directly supporting data-intensive projects in the past 5 years.
• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Challenge
Technology like IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence generates more structured and unstructured data than ever before. As a Data Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity not just to process this data, but to design and maintain the pipelines and platforms that make it meaningful to clients in the DoD and intelligence community. Your work will directly support missions from fraud detection to cancer research to national security — helping decision-makers find clarity in complex, disparate data.

This role is more than just building pipelines. We need a Data Engineer who thrives on innovation, embraces new tools and techniques, and mentors teammates along the way. You’ll oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable data platforms, ensuring solutions align with current environments while anticipating future functionality. Working in a fast-paced, agile setting, you’ll collaborate with analysts, developers, and consumers to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and impactful.

Join us as we use data for good. The world can’t wait. This position is 100% onsite work at DIA HQ in SE Washington DC.

What You’ll Do
• Data Pipelines & Platforms: Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL processes and data platforms that integrate disparate sources into usable formats.
• Programming & Integration: Develop code in Python, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or SQL to manipulate, analyze, and model data across multiple systems.
• System Support: Create scripts and programs to process structured and unstructured data, supporting teams in scaling, monitoring, and operating data platforms.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with cross-disciplinary teams to solve complex data challenges and mentor teammates in best practices.
• Agile Delivery: Apply Agile methodologies to ensure timely, mission-driven delivery of data solutions.

What You Bring
• 3+ years of experience designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications.
• 3+ years of experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or PostgreSQL.
• 2+ years of experience coding for data manipulation, analysis, or modeling.
• Experience retrieving, parsing, and processing data across multiple systems.
• Experience building scripts/programs to convert raw data into usable formats at scale.
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Nice to Have
• 8+ years of experience with ETL processes.
• 2+ years of experience implementing AI/ML solutions.
• Experience with DevSecOps tools (e.g., GitHub).
• Background in database administration or analytics.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
