KBR is seeking a highly skilled Senior Harness Design Engineer to support our advanced engineering and technology programs. This role is critical to the development, integration, and delivery of complex electrical harness systems for aerospace, defense, and government customers. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in harness and cable design, strong knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Work Environment:
  • Location: On-site Full-Time (Washington, DC)
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 25%
  • Working Hours: 1st Shift


Basic Compensation:

$134,100 to $201,000 annually
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, as well as internal parity considerations.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and documentation of electrical harnesses, wiring diagrams, and cable assemblies.
  • Generate detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements in accordance with MIL-STD, NASA, and other customer specifications.
  • Lead parts selection including connectors, backshells, wires, and protective coverings to meet program requiremets.
  • Conduct design reviews, resolve integration challenges, and provide technical leadership to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure harness designs meet program requirements.
  • Support the development of test procedures, assembly instructions, and as-built documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions to design and integration issues throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers in harness design best practices.


Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of professional experience in harness or wiring design, preferably in aerospace or defense programs.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools for harness and cable design.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical standards, wiring practices, and industry specifications (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-W-5088, NASA-STD-8739).
  • Experience with EMI/EMC considerations, signal integrity, and grounding/shielding practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, block diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain) highly preferred.


Preferred:
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Masters degree in a relative discipline to Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering.
