The Work
As a Lead Mission Systems Engineer on the Owego-based Naval Helicopter Programs (NHP), you will play a central role in the design, development, and integration of avionics and mission systems for advanced aircraft programs.
You will lead system design and requirements development, ensuring system architectures, interfaces, and behaviors align with customer and program needs.
A key part of your role will be guiding cross-functional teams through integration, verification, and validation, while ensuring compliance with safety and certification processes.
You will also lead efforts to identify, analyze, and resolve software and system-level defects to maintain mission readiness and reliability.
In addition, you will serve as the technical lead for customer and supplier engagements, representing Lockheed Martin at design reviews, integration milestones, and program updates.
Your ability to coordinate across disciplines and resolve complex engineering challenges will be critical in driving system performance and mission success.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics degree (STEM) degree with a minimum of 7+ years of experience.
Experience using Microsoft Office tools emphasizing Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Experience with Systems Engineering principles, including system design, development, integration, test, and evaluation.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance at the Secret level.
This position requires the ability to travel up to 10%.
Desired Skills:
Related Master's Degree.
Experience leading a team of engineers.
Earned value Management/Work Package Management. CAM Certification a plus.
Proposal and Basis of Estimate (BOE) writing
experience.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to brief technical / program information to internal and external audiences.
Ability to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative environment.
Experience with DOORS, JIRA, Windchill, or other digital engineering tools.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
