Position Title: AI/ML Engineer - Mid-Level

Location Information: Leawood, KS (hybrid) or Arlington, VA (mostly remote)



Position Responsibilities:

- Design and implement end-to-end ML pipelines for tasks such as classification, entity resolution, and semantic search.

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code and contribute to a culture of high-quality software development.

- Collaborate with architects and product teams to align development with organizational needs.

- Contribute to MLOps processes, including training, deployment, monitoring, and versioning of ML models.

- Support experimentation and evaluation of multi-agent or tool-using architectures where applicable.

- Build proof-of-concepts and production-level ML services using modern libraries such as Hugging Face Transformers, spaCy, Scikit-learn, etc.

- Integrate ML systems into scalable data architectures in collaboration with data engineers and software teams.

- Utilize frameworks like LangChain, Haystack, or equivalent for RAG-based solutions, working with large language models and vector embeddings.



Essential Skills, Experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in developing ML models and working with structured/unstructured data.

- Familiarity with LLMs, embeddings, or vector search concepts.

- Experience with ML/NLP libraries such as Transformers, spaCy, Scikit-learn, or equivalent.

- Knowledge of model training, tuning, and evaluation.

- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data storage systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, S3).

- Understanding of software development best practices including version control, testing, and CI/CD workflows.

- Industry experience, preferably within the defense industry and/or intelligence community or related sectors, a plus.

- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

- Ability to convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders and work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

- Awareness of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices.

- Interest in evolving AI trends such as agentic architectures, foundation model fine-tuning, etc. (nice to have).



Qualifications:

- Experience implementing RAG pipelines, multi-agent systems, or graph-based retrieval techniques (nice to have).

- Familiarity with DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) or infrastructure-as-code practices (nice to have).

- Exposure to MLOps frameworks (MLflow, DVC, Kubeflow, SageMaker) (nice to have).
