Background Information:
The System Administrator will support the Range Systems System Administration (RSSA) Team at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. ATR is the Navy’s East Coast open-air test range and provides real-time test and evaluation (T&E) services including data acquisition, instrumentation, data analysis, recording, test management, and airspace management to support live aircraft and weapon system testing for DoD and commercial customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain servers and other IT infrastructure components in accordance with DoD STIGs and other security best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, acting as an escalation point for junior team members.
• Perform regular vulnerability scanning, identifying and remediating security weaknesses.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement, implementing solutions to prevent future problems.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures.
• Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Participate in after-hours support rotation.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
• Mentor and guide junior system administrators, providing technical support and training on security best practices and DoD STIGs.

Educational, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
• HS Diploma required. BS Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years performing System Administrator duties
• Meet and maintain education, training, and certification requirements in compliance with applicable DoD/DoN Cybersecurity Workforce policy
• Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) certification required within 60 days
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory Users and Computers, Sites and Services, Domains and Trusts, and Certificate Services required.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and/or RHEL required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing guidance and support to junior team members.
• Experience with DNS, DHCP, and some networking (ability to troubleshoot basic networking connectivity issues at a minimum).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass drug screening
Security Clearance:
• Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
• Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance

Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching. Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted. Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
