Description:
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with a strong background in backend engineering, specializing in application deployment, automated continuous integration testing, and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will ensure the visibility of key metrics to inform developers' decision-making processes.

Location: Remote or Local to Washington DC

Rate: $45 - $50 an hour

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Communication and Collaboration: Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment. Share progress, seek assistance when needed, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Continuous Learning: Exhibit a strong eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies, frameworks, and best practices in web development and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Technology Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills on existing and emerging agile best practices, relevant technologies, and security best practices.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Version Control: Proficiency with version control systems like Git for collaborative development and managing codebase changes.
  • Terraform: Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and experience with Terraform for provisioning and managing infrastructure resources on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, and Jenkins.
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Go, and PowerShell.
  • Linux & System Administration: Strong understanding of file systems, process management, and performance tuning.
  • AWS Services: Familiarity with core AWS services, including:
    • AWS Lambda for serverless functions
    • AWS S3 for storage
    • AWS API Gateway for creating RESTful APIs
    • AWS DynamoDB for NoSQL databases
    • AWS EC2 for virtual servers
    • AWS RDS for managed relational databases
    • AWS CloudFront for content delivery
    • AWS CloudWatch for application monitoring
  • Database Management: Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.

Experience Requirements:
Required Experience:
  • 5 years of experience working with AWS, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.), and scripting (Python, Bash, etc.).
  • 3 years of experience working with TypeScript/JavaScript.


Education Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Certification:
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
