Help

As a Budget Officer at the NH-0560-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Supervises the review, compilation, summarization, and preparation of budgetary data contained in the DMEA Operating Program and Budget.
  • Consolidates estimates of required funds into appropriations and budget programs.
  • Presents estimates to Comptroller, for presentation and justification to the DMEA Directorate and to higher authority for approval.
  • Determines course of action, as it pertains to funds, to accomplish programmed activities.
  • Develops guidance to DMEA divisions for use in their preparation of annual operating program and budget submissions.
  • Prepares funding plans.
  • Participates in review and examination of financial reports and cost and performance reports and reviews prepared for and conducted by DMEA divisions and contractors.
  • Participates, as required, in OSD committee meetings as a representative of the DMEA comptroller.
  • Planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the work of subordinates.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH-04 if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Preparing operating budgets and budgetary data and considering program plans, past costs, known and anticipated requirements, available resources, etc.
  • Working with government funds.
  • Providing technical and professional accounting advice to stakeholders.
  • Interpreting accounting policies and assessing impact on current operations.


  • Education

    Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

    ACQUISITION POSITION: This position requires a Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Advanced level. Certification prior to hiring is not essential but must be accomplished within 36 months after entry into this position.     • DAWIA (Back to Basics) Certification: NON-CAP: Position requires DoD Acquisition Financial Management, Advanced certification within required timeframes. Selectee must also achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every 2-years. Click here for more details and Resources .
    FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Selectee or incumbent must be able to obtain the appropriate certification level for their position. This is a Financial Management Level, Advanced Certified position. IAW Public Law 112-81 and DoD Policy the incumbent shall comply with the requirements of DoD FM Certification program within the allotted timeframe. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
