Work Arrangement

Job Overview
The EOD Specialist is responsible for the handling of explosives.

Essential Functions
• Analyze unknown munitions and explosives.
• Detect, identify, recover, disarm and dispose of unsafe explosives and ordnance.
• Read and interpret X-rays and diagrams, as well as other technical documents, and prepare technical intelligence and incident reports.
• Provide formal instruction about unexploded ordnance to both military and civilian audiences.
• Answer technical questions about explosives and firing circuit safety.
• Maintain equipment, technical data and vehicles.
• Handle explosives regularly.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies
• Knowledge of composition and characteristics of United States and foreign conventional, chemical, biological, improvised, and nuclear ordnance
• Knowledge of basic electronics as related to the role
• Knowledge of precautions, tools, and protective equipment required for response to release of hazardous substances as operations level first responders and level three technicians
• Knowledge of proper handling, use, rendering safe, and treatment of hazardous explosive wastes.
• Ability to remain calm under stress
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain an explosives driver's license.

Education / Certifications
• High School degree required along with applicable military experience.
• Graduate of Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD)

Experience
• Minimum 5 years of EOD experience

Security Clearance
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
