The Role
We’re seeking a Node.js Platform Engineer to join a high-tempo Air Force data engineering initiative. You will be part of the team building an enterprise integration platform that connects mission-critical systems, modernizes legacy data flows, and enables secure, real-time information exchange. This is a mid-level, hands-on development role where you’ll contribute to a fast-paced project that values initiative, adaptability, and strong cultural fit.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain Node.js services that form the backbone of the enterprise integration platform.
• Build connectors, middleware, and orchestration logic that link disparate Air Force systems.
• Integrate Node services with streaming platforms (Kafka) to enable real-time event-driven data flows.
• Contribute to containerized deployments in AWS GovCloud, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security.
• Support DevSecOps practices by writing testable, maintainable code and participating in CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers, architects, and mission partners to ensure solutions align with Air Force integration goals.
Required Qualifications
• U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance.
• 5-10 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Solid hands-on experience with Node.js backend/platform development (Express, NestJS, or similar frameworks).
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Experience building scalable, containerized services (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS preferred) and modern DevSecOps practices.
• Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced, distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with API gateways (Tyk, Kong, Apigee, NGINX, etc.) as part of a platform solution.
• Familiarity with federal/DoD environments and secure data integration requirements.
• Prior experience with enterprise integration platforms or large-scale data engineering.
