Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Databricks Engineer) to join a highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Dulles, VA. This role will play a mission-critical part in the sustainment and modernization of legacy cybersecurity systems, as well as the design and deployment of new enterprise security services. The engineer will support teams migrating services, applications, and platforms to Databricks, while optimizing data pipelines, governance, performance, and automation strategies. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud-based data engineering, Databricks administration, pipeline orchestration, and secure software development practices while working in a distributed team environment.
Key Responsibilities
•Support teams migrating services, applications, and platforms from legacy back-endsystems to Databricks.
•Identify optimal migration paths, build migration plans, and execute delivery.
•Migrate data pipelines from NiFi to Databricks, including validation.
•Implement the medallion model for data assets on Databricks.
•Develop SOPs for integrating data assets into Databricks with a focus on efficiency,instrumentation, and performance.
•Optimize development, testing, monitoring, and security processes for migrateddata assets.
•Develop and implement strategies to streamline data asset migration andintegration.
•Write code in various programming and scripting languages to automate/optimizedata ingestion, pipeline orchestration, and data management processes.
•Enable transparency by leveraging AWS CloudWatch and related technologies tomonitor and measure pipeline performance.
•Ensure Data Engineering Team SOPs are properly documented and communicated.
•Ensure technical correctness, timeliness, and quality of delivery.
•Communicate effectively with all levels of management and customers.
Required Qualifications
•U.S. Citizenship.
•Active Secret clearance (must be able to obtain TS/SCI).
• Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.
• 10+ years of directly relevant software development experience.
• 8+ years of data engineering experience in a cloud environment.
• Hands-on experience with relational, NoSQL, and file-based storage (Databricks, Elastic, Postgres, S3, Athena, etc.).
• Experience working in a CI/CD pipeline environment.
• Working knowledge of Databricks, Cloud RDS, NiFi, AWS Redshift, and Elasticsearch.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is required.
