A Day in the Life – What You’ll Do
Lead, plan, brief, execute, and debrief Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events in support of joint air-ground integration training
Role-play key battlefield positions including JTAC, JFO, ASOC, FDC, rotary-wing/fixed-wing CAS assets, and ground force commanders
Use systems like NGTS (Next Generation Threat System) and MACE (Modern Air Combat Environment) to simulate realistic threat and battlespace conditions
Review and stay current with Joint and Service TTPs through manuals, tactics bulletins, and threat assessments
Develop training materials, coordinate schedules, and support CAF DTC Large Force Exercises (LFEs) and Small Team events
Liaise with units to gather training requirements and support integration of those needs into executable mission scenarios
Represent the DTC at events such as RED FLAG and other Air Combat Command (ACC) exercise planning conferences
Contribute to doctrine evaluation and training plan development for U.S. and allied combat units
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR eligibility
Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience, Master’s with 7+ years, or PhD with 4+ years
Current or previously certified Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC)
Operationally relevant military experience within the last 10 years (simulator experience may qualify)
Strong working knowledge of at least one of the following:
Joint Publication 3-09.3
MTTP-JFIRE
AFTTP 3-1.JTAC
AFTTP 3-3.JTAC
Other service-equivalent fire support/employment doctrine
Preferred Qualifications
JTAC Instructor (JTAC-I) qualification
Graduate of the USAF Weapons School or USMC Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course
Completion of the Joint Operational Fires and Effects Course
Active Top Secret security clearance
