PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Aircraft Attendants exert light to moderate physical effort while performing duties such as operating flight line vehicles, uncoupling and making couplings between vehicles and towed equipment, and occasionally lifting/carrying objects in excess of 50 pounds. The work requires frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, and climbing on and under aircraft.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is established at assigned locations on a 40-hour week basis, day and night shifts, with some overtime mandatory. Aircraft attendants are exposed to the possibility of injury (e.g., electrical shocks, bruises, cuts, and burns) from auxiliary electrical equipment, falls from aircraft, hot brakes, moveable surface controls (e.g., speed brakes), pressurized liquids and gases, high levels of noise, rotating rotor blades, and jet engine intakes and exhausts. Outdoor work may have to be performed in severe weather. Exposure to these conditions is for relatively short periods. Incumbent will be required to wear applicable safety items provided by the government with particular emphasis to eye, ear, and foot injuries. Work will be performed in a noise hazard environment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

- You will use incoming aircraft guides (e.g., follow me vehicles, paddles, night wands, hand and arm signals) to safely park aircraft.
- You will operate ground support equipment (e.g., auxiliary power units, air start units) in support of transient aircraft.
- You will service all types of transient aircraft with correct fuel, oil, high or low pressure oxygen, hydraulics, or nitrogen.
- You will load passengers, baggage, or cargo in compliance with weight and balance requirements.
- You will manage assigned aircraft parking areas to prevent potential damage to aircraft or personnel due to parking of incompatible aircraft type by one another.
