Software Engineering Manager, Senior

The Opportunity:

As a back-end developer, you know that a good site or system needs the right combination of clean code, APIs, analytics, and infrastructure to develop a user-focused solution. We're looking for a seasoned back-end developer with the software engineering skills it takes to identify potential risks, contribute to solution development, and create efficient and effective systems for our clients.

As a lead back-end developer at Booz Allen, you'll oversee a team as they use the latest architectural approaches and open-source frameworks and tools to deliver solutions. Using your software engineering expertise, you'll lead the development team to create custom tools, systems, and sites with consistent performance and scalability.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience with software development and modernization efforts, including Java or JEE and open source tech stack
  • 5+ years of experience with AWS
  • 5+ years of experience with leading Agile and DevSecOps environments and applying full-stack IT modernization approaches, including application re-platforming and refactoring, and delivering systems for resilience, reliability, performance, and high availability
  • 5+ years of experience with continuous integration (CI) or continuous deployment (CD) pipelines in public or hybrid cloud environments using technologies, including Jenkins, GitLab, Apache Subversion, Ansible, Puppet, and AWS Cloud Forms
  • Experience with Cloud computing, including IaaS and PaaS offerings
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree


Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Space-based mission systems
  • Experience with establishing test automation frameworks for systems modernization efforts using integrated DevSecOps toolchains and test-driven development practices
  • Experience with working in Agile at scale environments with multiple, product-centric Agile teams
  • Ability to partner with senior-level client stakeholders, provide technical thought leadership, and bring innovation to achieve business needs
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
