This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered.

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

This position supports the Defense Health Agency, Armed Forces Health Surveillance Division (AFHSD). It requires superior operational support from a dynamic team of scientific professionals, including military, civilian, and contract personnel. Accordingly, a high degree of administrative expertise and responsiveness is required. Previous military environment experience is preferred, as this person must interact with senior-level service-specific (Navy, Army, and Air Force) public health and medical leaders.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Operations Lead: $90,000 to $100,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Operations Lead Responsibilities Include:
  • Supervise and lead a team of Operations Coordinators, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Oversee task management workflow, including delegation, synthesis of responses, and reporting to leadership.
  • Provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Division Chief and COR.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures to enhance daily operations.
  • Lead onboarding, coordinate meetings, events, and visits, including scheduling, agendas, and documentation.
  • Track and submit presentations, abstracts, and reports through proper approval processes.
  • Assist with AFHSD events, conferences, and foreign delegations.
  • Support headquarters functions: calendar, travel, training, IT requests, operations reporting, and meeting security
  • .Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Operations Lead Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 7-10 years' experience in administration, operations, or consulting preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and Defense Travel System/ETMS2.
  • Strong time management, multitasking, and organizational skills; ability to lead and instruct teams.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, professional, and able to maintain strong client relationships.
  • Knowledge of Public Health, DoD, or military operations is a plus.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
