Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as the JIRA Engineer, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a complex IT system and infrastructure in support of a software asset management tool (JIRA). The position supports the full system lifecycle from planning and architecture to deployment and optimization and collaborates with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions.

Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as the JIRA Engineer, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a complex IT system and infrastructure in support of a software asset management tool (JIRA). The position supports the full system lifecycle from planning and architecture to deployment and optimization and collaborates with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Analyzes system requirements and ensures system hardware, software, and network components are integrated and functioning properly across the enterprise.
- Builds, designs, and develops system architectures, engineering plans, and technical documentation for the enterprise software asset management tool.
- Implements and manages system configurations, security protocols, and operating environments for the enterprise software asset management tool.
- Installs, configures, tests, and maintains operating systems, application software, and the software asset management tools.
- Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to the development and deployment of the software asset management tool.
- Performs system upgrades and migrations to the software asset management tool in accordance with change management policies.
- Monitors system performance and availability and recommends improvements for efficiency, scalability, and security to the government leadership team in a timely manner either in writing or in-person as needed.
- Creates and maintains detailed documentation including system diagrams, procedures, and user manuals throughout the development and deployment of the software asset management tool.
- Ensures compliance with enterprise cybersecurity policies, federal IT standards, and FBI/OCIO-specific requirements.
- Tests, integrates, and validates the software asset management system activities are performing as intended.
- Collaborates with project managers, software developers, network engineers, and stakeholders to meet project timelines and goals.
- Briefs leadership in a timely manner either in writing or in daily/weekly meetings.
- Works independently or with a team when needed.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in systems engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology
- 8+ years' experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or IT infrastructure support.
- ITIL, Atlassian (JIRA) Certification is required.
