Overview

Engineering Technician (F3009 2025-23866)

Bowhead is seeking to hire an Engineering Technician to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division. The engineering technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for the planning, conducting and completion of fabrication projects of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Constructing components, subunits, or or simple models or adapts standard equipments, may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
  • Follow specific layouts and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
  • Conducting various test or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgements in measurement, selecting, preparing and operating standard test equipment and records test data.
  • Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
  • Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics. Relevant combined education and experience in manufacturing can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must hold J-STD 001 and IPC-610 certifications.
  • DoD experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Soldering experience is not required but beneficial.


Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
