Responsibilities:
Assist new hires by connecting them with subject matter experts and relevant references to support their technical work.
Contribute to developing requirements for Fall Projects and Summer Intern projects.
Help improve workforce development strategies by supporting teaching methods and project structuring to balance training and valuable data generation.
Develop and review tutorials related to Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering deliverables in early-stage ship concept design, including:
Stack Up Length
Concept of Operations – Operational Views
Selection of Parent Hulls for Parametric Estimation
Floodable Length
Area and Volume Estimation
Weight and Stability Estimation
General Arrangements
Resistance and Powering Estimation
Propulsion Architecture selection
Electric Power Load Analysis and Genset selection
Intact and Damage Stability
Seakeeping
Support standardizing expectations for early-stage ship design deliverables.
Participate in reviews of project deliverables.
Collaborate with stakeholders such as ONR, DARPA, SNAME, and NAVSEA to stay informed on innovative and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, or related engineering discipline
4–7 years of relevant experience in naval architecture or marine engineering, with design and architecture focus
U.S. citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Experience mentoring junior personnel or peers
Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
Preferred:
Master’s degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, or related discipline
Experience collaborating with government or defense stakeholders
