Responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation. Collaborates with clients, architects, contractors, and suppliers to determine project costs and ensure competitiveness while maintaining profitability. Projects include stateside and OCONUS federal construction projects with over 50% being design/build construction methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review project plans, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand project scope and requirements.
• Attend pre-bid site visits becoming acquainted with project site (both US & OCONUS). Familiarize yourself w/ site specific items including competition, sub-contractors, and logistics such as shipping, and housing.
• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and cost analyses of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Assist in preparation of preliminary construction schedule to be submitted with bid.
• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and bid proposals within specified deadlines.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to refine project scope and budget.
• Research and analyze market trends, supplier quotes, and labor rates to ensure accurate pricing.
• Assist in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective solutions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction materials, techniques, and industry standards.
• Track and document project costs and variances throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project team in bid presentations and negotiations.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a construction estimator for federal projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and terminology.
• Proficiency in estimating software, scheduling software & MS Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and math skills.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
