Overview:
We're hiring an SAP Applications Developer who will focus on developing and supporting enterprise applications at ORNL with a particular focus on Human Resource applications and SuccessFactors! This position resides in the Enterprise Applications & Business Intelligence group in the Application Development division, in the Information Technology Services Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
This position will provide support for ORNL's human resource applications which cover a wide range of business functions such as: Human Resources master data, organizational management, benefits, compensation, performance management, succession planning, onboarding, recruiting, and learning. ORNL's Human Resource applications exist on a landscape that include SAP S4/HANA and SAP SuccessFactors. An upgrade in the integration between SuccessFactors to S4 HANA is currently underway. Software developed in both SAP technologies as well as non-SAP web technologies.

If you have not resided in the U.S. for three consecutive years, you are not eligible for the PIV credential and instead will need to obtain a favorable Local Site Specific Only (LSSO) risk determination to maintain employment. Once you meet the three-year residency requirement, you will be required to obtain a PIV credential to maintain employment.

- Development, support and modification of software involving SAP's ABAP technologies including SAP GUI (Classic ABAP and ABAP Objects), Business Server Pages, Fiori and ABAP WebDynpro.
- Development and support of migration activities to new BIB integrations.
- Development and support of new activities to implement new module and/or new cloud solutions for the HR customer.
- Analysis of software requirements and assistance in application design.
- Analysis of software code and data to answer questions about system operations.
- Implementation of unit testing and automated testing for programs and applications.
- Collaboration with developers in other areas such as Finance (include Payroll), Business Intelligence, et cetera.
- Adherence to ORNL software quality assurance standards and ITIL best practices.
- Support of ORNL project management requirements.

Basic Qualifications:
- A BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information systems, science, engineering, business, or a related discipline and a minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years of aligned professional experience is required for consideration. An overall combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Masters and PhD degree holders in the same fields of study are also encouraged to apply:
- Masters' holders should have a minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant and aligned experience.
- PhD holders should have four (4) to six (6) years of relevant and aligned experience.
- Passion to review and write code.
- Proven track record of development successes.
- Willingness/desire to learn emerging programming technologies.
- Highly motivated, self-starter who is comfortable working as part of a team (in any capacity) or as an independent contributor.
- Strong customer focus and excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- SAP software development experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fifteen (15) or more years of application development experience (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Knowledge and experience with SAP SuccessFactors and related integrations.
- Traditional and object-oriented programming.
- Model View Controller concept.
- SAP ABAP (classic and object-oriented), SAP Business Server Pages (BSPs), SAP WebDynpro and SAP WebRFC technologies.
- SAP Cloud Platform Integration experience.
- Limited knowledge of Linux/Unix development - e.g., writing basic scripts, etc..
- SAP HANA development technologies (CDS views, HANA security).
- Web services creation and consumption (SOAP and REST).
- Traditional web development (e.g., HTML5, CSS, XML, and JavaScript).
- Code analysis, performance, security and debugging.
- Code unit testing.
- Business workflow.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
Special Requirements:
