Job Title: Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Manager

Job Responsibilities
Trace Systems is seeking a highly skilled Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB) manager to own and oversee the accuracy, integrity, and strategic use of our Configuration Management Database. This role is critical to enabling visibility, compliance, and control across IT operations and enterprise services. The CMDB Manager will be responsible for defining governance, ensuring data quality, and aligning the CMDB with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes. This entry-to-mid level role provides day-to-day operational support, documentation, and troubleshooting for cloud environments. The ideal candidate will bring a working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCC High, or similar), a strong technical foundation, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary owner of the CMDB, accountable for its structure, accuracy, and usability.
- Develop, implement, and maintain CMDB policies, procedures, and standards to support ITIL/ITSM/ISO/CMMI/CMMC practices.
- Ensure all Configuration Items (CIs) are properly identified, recorded, classified, and maintained throughout their lifecycle.
- Collaborate with IT operations, engineering, security, and compliance teams to ensure CMDB data supports change, incident, and problem management processes.
- Oversee integrations between the CMDB and other systems (monitoring tools, asset management, discovery tools, etc.).
- Regularly audit and reconcile CMDB data to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
- Provide reporting, dashboards, and analytics to leadership for decision-making and compliance requirements.
- Train and mentor staff on CMDB usage and best practices.
- Support security and compliance requirements for cloud environments, ensuring adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.
- Document system configurations, processes, and best practices to strengthen organizational knowledge.
- Respond to service tickets and escalate issues when necessary to senior engineers.
- Contribute to ongoing cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Career Essential in Software Development, Microsoft May 2024.
- Career Essentials in Generative AI, Microsoft.
- 1-3 years of experience working with IT help Desk/Service Desk technologies.
- Currently administering Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
- Familiarity with security and compliance requirements in government or regulated environments is a plus.
Desired Qualification
- Hands-on experience with Cybersecurity Documentation, Technical Writing, Process Mapping, Incident Response Documentation, Policy & Procedure Development, Data Analytics, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Database Design, scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, SQL, etc.).
- Hands on experience with Power Apps, Power BI, etc.
Education
- High School with college studies in Foundations of Cybersecurity, Info Security/IT Risk Management, Security Policies, or related cybersecurity fields.
