Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Hybrid | Washington, DC
Clearance: Secret
Employment Type: Full-time, salaried, with full benefits

About the Company:

Join a mission-driven tech innovator at the forefront of national security and defense
transformation. This organization leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence, next-
generation sensor technology, and advanced data solutions to address some of the most
critical challenges facing the U.S. today.

You’ll be part of a fast-growing, forward-thinking team composed of seasoned operators
and tech visionaries—people deeply connected to the mission and passionate about
building real-world solutions. The work is not only innovative, but also meaningful and high
impact, shaping the future of defense technology.

If you’re looking to contribute to work that matters—where innovation meets purpose—this
is the opportunity for you.

About the Role:

We're partnering with a cutting-edge defense tech company that's building infrastructure
for some of the most mission-critical software in the world—think cloud deployments
across multiple classification levels and edge environments like U.S. Navy submarines.

They’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer who’s excited to work at the intersection of
cloud and on-prem systems. You’ll help architect and maintain secure, scalable
infrastructure using tools like Pulumi, supporting everything from unclassified
environments to deployments in air-gapped and high-side networks. If you're the kind of
engineer who thrives in complex environments and wants to build systems that actually
matter, this one's worth a closer look.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Cloud Architecture & Design: Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure
using platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud to support applications and
services.
• On-Premise Architecture & Design: Build and maintain infrastructure in air-gapped
systems, ensuring reliability in disconnected environments.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Pulumi and
other tools to automate provisioning, configuration, and scaling.
• Container Orchestration: Manage and orchestrate containers using Kubernetes in
production environments.
• Security & Compliance: Apply best practices for infrastructure security—including
IAM, network hardening, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and fine-tune infrastructure for performance,
cost-efficiency, and capacity planning.
• Monitoring & Incident Response: Set up robust monitoring and alerting; participate
in a shared on-call rotation to respond to infrastructure incidents.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with development, DevOps, and security
teams to align infrastructure needs and ensure seamless integration.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of
infrastructure setups and practices; actively share knowledge with the team.

Required Experience:

• Experience: 3+ years in cloud infrastructure engineering or a related role, with
hands-on expertise in AWS (preferred) or Azure.
• Infrastructure-as-Code: Proficiency with IaC tools such as Pulumi (preferred),
Terraform, or CloudFormation. Pulumi is the primary tool used by the team.
• CI/CD & Containers: Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines and orchestrating
containers using tools like Kubernetes.
• Scripting: Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Networking: Solid understanding of network protocols, VPNs, and VPC setups in
cloud environments.
• Security & Compliance: Familiarity with cloud security best practices, IAM policies,
and compliance frameworks.
• Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug and resolve
complex infrastructure issues.

Preferred Experience:

• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect,
Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
• Managing on-premise virtualization layers (e.g., hypervisors, VM orchestration).
• Supporting infrastructure across multi-cloud environments.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps tools and practices (e.g., GitHub Actions, CI/CD
pipelines).
• Experience with database management in cloud and/or on-premise environments.

Benefits:

• Equity participation
• 401(k) retirement plan
• Unlimited paid time off (PTO)
• Paid parental leave
• Paid holidays
• Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
• Short- and long-term disability coverage
