Cybersecurity Engineer needed for a contract-to-hire opportunity with SOC's client to work onsite in San Antonio, TX.

SOC is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer with a strong background in software sustainment to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in Cyber Security, possess an active security clearance, and be skilled in maintaining secure environments, monitoring and troubleshooting complex security issues. This role supports critical cyber operations and requires expertise in SIEM tools and industry-standard security certifications.

This role supports critical cyber operations and requires expertise in SIEM tools and industry-standard security certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and sustain secure software environments to ensure operational integrity and security compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex security-related issues within the environment.
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security events using SIEM tools to detect and mitigate potential threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and enhance cybersecurity policies and procedures.
- Perform continuous vulnerability assessments and recommend remediation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Active security clearance (any level) is required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in Cyber Security.
- Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, or similar) is required.
- A few years of IT experience is preferred, enhancing troubleshooting and systems understanding.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+
- Nice to have: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving security issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of software sustainment practices within secure government or defense-related environments.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, DoD RMF).
- Experience supporting mission-critical cyber operations and infrastructure.
