The Role
We’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support an Air Force digital transformation program. This position is fully remote, but requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance. You’ll play a key role in designing, securing, and optimizing API integrations and modern data pipelines that power mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage APIs that meet security, authorization, and best practice standards
Develop and enforce API authorization policies
Build and deploy containerized applications in AWS GovCloud using DevSecOps pipelines
Integrate and manage data streaming services (ex: Kafka)
Support enterprise-level API Gateway operations
Collaborate with government and contractor teams to modernize legacy architectures into scalable, secure cloud environments
Required Qualifications
U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance
5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles
Expertise with API development, security standards, and best practices
Hands-on experience with API authorization and policy engines (e.g., OPA)
Strong background in AWS GovCloud, DevSecOps practices, and containerized app deployment
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating across distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data streaming frameworks (Kafka strongly preferred)
Familiarity with Tyk API Gateway
Prior DoD, Air Force, or cleared contracting experience
