Contract Overview
This position supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) under the IT Support Services contract. NSWCDD is responsible for delivering warfare systems to protect our nation and defeat our adversaries. The contract provides support for IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and operations across classified and unclassified environments.

Contract Overview
This position supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) under the IT Support Services contract. NSWCDD is responsible for delivering warfare systems to protect our nation and defeat our adversaries. The contract provides support for IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and operations across classified and unclassified environments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-level Unix and Linux systems that support critical IT operations.
- Manage system performance, ensuring high availability, and applying patches and updates to maintain security and stability.
- Lead efforts to automate system tasks using shell scripting or configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet and ensures that backup and recovery procedures are in place and tested regularly.
- Monitor system logs, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize server configurations to meet performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate with network engineers, application developers, and cybersecurity teams to ensure seamless integration and secure operations across the IT infrastructure.
- Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations, often leading cross-functional teams through these initiatives.
- Mentor junior administrators and provide guidance on best practices.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards, contributing to audits and risk assessments.
- Six (6) years of professional experience in UNIX and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems.
- Experience in system backup and recovery; basic software management; security management and library management; installation and configuration of hardware; operational systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software; operating computer systems in different operating environments; and sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network trouble shooting and resource allocation.
- Experience in different network protocols including TCP/IP and major network security tools such as firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attach methods, and latest detection methods.
- Required Clearance Level: Top Secret (T5)
- Required Certification: IAT Level II or III
