We're seeking an independent, action-oriented project engineer who can work across organizations to define future Space Vehicle capability needs, define clear technology maturation roadmaps and propose IRAD investment plans to achieve our objectives. You'll help define the strategic needs of the company and help BAE Systems deliver cutting-edge capabilities for the missions of tomorrow. You will be responsible for actively managing the annual portfolio of Space Vehicle IRAD projects to achieve our technical, cost and schedule execution goals.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

What You'll Do:
- Spacecraft Strategy and Capability Road Mapping
- Work with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) stakeholders to understand the spacecraft opportunities and priorities SMS is pursuing.
- Work with SV Engineering Chief Engineer, Spacecraft Product Line Chief Engineer, and Space Vehicle Engineering thought leaders to distill SBU needs into spacecraft capabilities maturation plans.
- Capture and maintain spacecraft capability maturation steps and prioritized SBU needs into an integrated spacecraft capability roadmap.
- Collaborate with SMS Strategic Operations on SMS-wide spacecraft strategy and road mapping efforts on behalf of Space Vehicle Engineering. overall SMS spacecraft strategy, accounting for ESA strategic objectives, SMS strategic objectives, and the state of the market
- Lead planning and execution of Spacecraft Strategy & Product Line Stakeholder Meetings to update stakeholders on strategic spacecraft objectives and associated plans and resources to meet objectives.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management and customers regarding spacecraft strategy and capability maturation plans.
- IRAD Management
- Propose and advocate for spacecraft IRAD efforts during annual planning, leveraging the spacecraft capability roadmap, your knowledge of SBU needs, and working with Space Vehicle Engineering, the SV Engineering Chief Engineer, and the Spacecraft Product Line Chief Engineer.
- Serve as Program Manager for all approved spacecraft related IRAD efforts in the Space Vehicle IRAD portfolio and ensure all efforts are executing on schedule and within budget.
- Work with Engineering departments to define staffing needs and help coordinate personnel assignments to ensure IRADs are adequately staffed.
- Generate and maintain monthly financial forecasts and reports.
- Lead quarterly Program Management Reviews (PMR) with SBU and Engineering stakeholders and report on how IRAD efforts are executing against the spacecraft capability roadmap, approved budgets and planned development schedules.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.

- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
