Aviation Maintenance System Engineer

This position supports System Architecture maintenance, upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems through a mixed Windows and Linux software ecosystem. Provides support for Linux operating systems coupled with container orchestration and migration from on premises to a cloud instance. Works to automate the deployment, management, scaling, and networking of containers.

• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, system and application logs, and completion of scheduled jobs.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
• Configure/add new services as necessary.
• Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
• Provide support for Web Applications.
• Work with development team to validate and implement the correct installation/configuration of all resources utilized in the development environment.
• Provide automation using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
• Work closely with Software Developers and Senior Database Administrators.
• Assist with managing database backups.
• Provide hardware/software support for mobile devices in development and production.
• Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure platform health and performance.
• Furnish backup support for software testing when all testers are otherwise occupied.
• Integrate security best practices, implement compliance measures, and manage governance features to protect data and meet regulatory requirements.
• Create and maintain systems for managing development, staging, and production environments, ensuring consistency across them.
• Troubleshoots problems and implements changes in assigned areas.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Perform routine clerical, administrative, and logistics tasks as required.

Job Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium/50 lbs. maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 25 lbs. Some occasional walking or standing may be required.

MINIMUM SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• Expertise in tools like Terraform and Ansible for automating infrastructure provisioning.
• Working knowledge of relational database management systems.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes to manage and scale applications.
• Understanding of Linux Operating Systems and Container Orchestration.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical discipline.
