Job Summary
The AFSOC JNTC Event Air Operations (Ops) Planner oversees the development and coordination of air operations planning support for AFSOC participation in Emerald Warrior events. Additionally, the Air Ops planner ensures all Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) planning events are appropriately supported with operational subject matter expertise (SME), and coordinates with USSOCOM, COCOM, interagency and USSOCOM Components for operations exercise support requirements. The Air Ops Planner will oversee the development of JNTC event training objectives, ensuring they are established and met, in conjunction with the AFSOC JCS Exercise Lead planner. The Air Ops Planner will lead the Combined Ops Working Group (Air, Ground, Fires, and Virtual) during AFSOC JNTC Events. The Air Ops Planner will lead the Combined Ops Working Group (Air, Ground, Fires, and Virtual) during Emerald Warrior events. The Air Ops Planner will coordinate closely with the Intel, Scenario/MSEL, Logistics, Comm/Networking, C2, Ground, and Range planners to ensure operational objectives of the JNTC event are thoroughly planned and accomplished in the event.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead Ops planner for the AFSOC A3OJ Emerald Warrior team, applying military rated experience to plan, organize, and build AFSOC Emerald Warrior Events in support of AFSOC operational training.
- Ensure that Ops training objectives are developed, in conjunction with the Scenario/MSEL/Lead Planners and utilized to thoroughly support AFSOC training requirements.
- Ensure Ops requirements are identified within the JNTC and Joint Exercise Scenario and MSEL working groups, and all Emerald Warrior event Ops requirements are coordinated with Emerald Warrior Lead Planner.
- Lead and conduct all Emerald Warrior Ops Working Groups for Emerald Warrior events, attend JELC Planning Conferences.
- During Emerald Warrior event execution, ensure all air-centric training events occur appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) as required.
- Function as a SOF Subject Matter Expert (SME) during Emerald Warrior JELC and execution events.
- Maintain knowledge of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF) and JSOAC/SOTG operational procedures by coordinating closely with the Command and Control (C2) working group to ensure AFSOC training objectives are met.
- Access and manipulate operational resources, archived planning data, and scenario databases to help develop mission scenarios that meet operational unit training objectives.
- Provide input into the design, development, and population of selected exercise related databases.
- In coordination with the Lead Planner, serve as the primary source of continuity and expertise regarding the implementation of SOF and joint policy and doctrine in air asset and integrated fires planning for Emerald Warrior events.
- Facilitate Emerald Warrior event participation between government and non-government organizations, joint and coalition military forces, and interagency coordination.
- Develop and refine the Emerald Warrior event concept using current and evolving
- Use results of focused research to update Emerald Warrior event objectives to ensure doctrinal correctness.
- In coordination with the Lead Planner, serve as the primary source of continuity and expertise regarding the implementation of SOF and joint policy and doctrine in air asset and integrated fires planning for Emerald Warrior events.
- Prepare and deliver oral presentations, develop written correspondence, and coordinate working groups and training sessions in support of Emerald Warrior planning and execution.
- Position may require travel up to 30 days per year.
Requirements
Experience and Education
- SOF aviation background.
- In-depth knowledge of SOF and Conventional aircraft, airspace deconfliction, and familiarity with ground force maneuver units.
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years' experience in SOF, or Prior E8+, CW4+ with 10 years' experience working in SOF
- Minimum of 4 years of recent experience serving in a command, senior enlisted advisor, or primary staff billet in a SOF (USSOCOM/TSOC), Service, Joint Staff, OSD, or 3-4 Star level Service/CCMD HQs within the past 8 years
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with the Joint Training System (joint exercise planning management)
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in joint operations and operational-strategic level SOF planning and operations
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in the Adaptive Planning and Execution System (APEX) and Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP)
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in Operational Design preferred
- Minimum of 4 years' experience directly interfacing with senior staff (O5/O6 and GOFO) at the TSOCs, Components, CCMDs, Services, Interagency
- Excellent presentation, communication and organization skills
- Preferred 2 years' experience as a platform instructor in a Professional Military Education/training environment
