Steampunk is seeking an accomplished and visionary Salesforce Technical Architect to oversee the technical design and strategy, delivery excellence, development, and implementation of Salesforce solutions for one of our application development teams. This role will provide technical leadership, governance, and architectural oversight to ensure alignment with business objectives and best practices. This role also combines technical expertise, strategic leadership, and business acumen to manage a team of project-level Salesforce Technical Leads (who oversee the Salesforce Development Team), ensure scalable and innovative solutions, and actively contribute to the expansion of our account through business development and new work opportunities.

The ideal candidate has extensive Salesforce expertise supporting federal government clients, a proven ability to manage complex technical landscapes, a strong track record of mentoring and guiding project-level Salesforce Tech Leads/Developers, and the ability to align client objectives with transformative Salesforce solutions while fostering account growth.

Contributions

As a Salesforce Technical Architect, you will be a technical servant leader to agile Salesforce product development teams, supporting technical delivery in a government client consulting environment via a COI orchestration framework. You will be responsible for the ongoing maturation and delivery improvements across these teams and in alignment with each team's individual objectives. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining client relationships, developing and documenting standards and guidelines, and performing DevOps and release engineering. Additionally, you will document processes, ensure communication, manage change control and governance, and collaborate with the application development team, Technical Architects, and Project Managers to support delivery success.

As a Steampunk Salesforce Technical Architect, you will generally be expected to work with Business Analysts to translate business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage the Salesforce platform. You will oversee an application development team responsible for developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining solutions, integrations, and data migration elements of a Salesforce implementation. This involves utilizing Salesforce declarative or programmatic development resources, including triggers, flows, validations, approvals, Apex classes, and Lightning components (Aura and LWC). You will ensure the team executes test plans to ensure quality delivery using test code and unit tests. You will ensure the development team follows coding standards and participates in code reviews to ensure appropriate design patterns are observed.

Delivery Excellence and Governance
  • Ensure all projects adhere to Salesforce and industry best practices, including security, scalability, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct regular architecture and design reviews and provide oversight to maintain consistency and alignment with project goals.
  • Develop and oversee the adoption of modern DevSecOps and CI/CD practices across the project team for efficient and reliable deployments.
  • Integrating open source build servers with GIT and Salesforce Orgs (Scratch Orgs, Sandboxes, and Production).
  • Hands-on release engineering, including documenting and scripting of deployment steps via Salesforce APIs using CLI.
  • Release orchestration and environment management, including refreshes, syncing, and back deployments.
  • Anticipate risks related to scalability, performance, and integration, and provide proactive mitigation strategies.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Stay abreast of Salesforce's evolving ecosystem, including new products, features, and emerging technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage Salesforce innovations to drive business value and improve client outcomes.
  • Enforce technical standards and governance models to ensure sustainable and high-quality delivery.

Application Development
  • Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high-quality business solutions on the SFDC platform based on industry best practices as well as business needs.
  • Manage the process of implementing improvements and new functionality in SFDC applications.
  • Deliver support and solutions for break/fix issues.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other technical resources and stakeholders regarding status, technical issues, and creative solutions.
  • Perform Salesforce administration (create accounts/profiles, defining fields, updating layouts, reports, dashboards, etc.) and development.
  • Ability to support Salesforce configuration tasks such as field/page updates, flows, and automated approvals.
  • Support data migration-related analysis, manipulation, and load activities for system cutover and SFDC go-live.
  • Handle numerous projects/priorities using proven project management methodologies and sound development practices to ensure the quality delivery of enterprise solutions.
  • Monitor Salesforce.com usage for compliance.
  • Maintain security for Salesforce.com data.
  • Interface with business analysts and quality assurance staff, and be responsible for delivering complete work products.
  • Implement App Exchange platforms.
  • Research integration issues and work closely with team members on operations and development staff.

Team Leadership and Mentorship
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Salesforce Technical Leads and developers.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical coaching to ensure delivery teams consistently meet quality and performance expectations.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution and 12+ years of total experience, or Bachelor's degree and 14+ years of total experience
  • U.S. Citizen, with ability to obtain a Federal clearance
  • 7+ years of experience with Salesforce development
  • 3+ years of experience with Salesforce implementation
  • Experience managing Salesforce development teams, conducting performance management responsibilities to team members
  • Functional knowledge of Salesforce data structure and understanding of how to leverage the tool to meet complex process and reporting requirements
  • Must have proven knowledge and practical application of LWCs, APEX programming, APIs, and Web Service
  • Experience with Java-based applications
  • Experience with VS Code with Salesforce DX and Git version control
  • Experience delivering Salesforce projects using Agile and DevSecOps methodologies
  • Experience with Salesforce Development and Deployment Tools
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and overseeing the work of junior developers
  • Experience with Communities and Flows
  • Experience with declarative configuration, Apex development, and Lightning development
  • Able to translate user stories into working software with minimal oversight
  • Proficient in Microsoft Visio
  • Strong technical expertise in Salesforce multi-cloud solutions, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Platform
  • Salesforce Architect certification: Application Architect, System Architect, and ideally Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
  • Proficient in integration patterns, API design, and enterprise architecture principles, as well as tools like MuleSoft
  • Solid understanding of DevSecOps methodologies, Salesforce DX Second-Generation Packaging, and modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Leadership. If you don't know the difference between that and management, this just isn't going to work out
  • Experience identifying areas of improvement and recommending optimizations
  • Proven team player and team builder
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proven experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA)

The projected compensation range for this position is $175,000 to $220,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
