Team Submarine's Submarine Program Offices are responsible for :
The acquisition of COLUMBIA Class Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
The acquisition of VIRGINIA Class Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy's newest class of nuclear attack submarines. The program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B. Additionally, successful improvement of the Class' capabilities is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
The SSN(X) Office is responsible for the acquisition and design of the future fast attack submarine and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the future submarine. The future Attack Submarine will be designed to retain multi-mission capability and sustained combat presence in denied waters with a focus on greater speed, stealth, and horizontal payloads and salvo rates.

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.
Serco-NA is seeking a motivated individual to provide help to the Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Director in PEO SSBN/ASN-RDA by standing up programs and engaging with Suppliers within Industry in aspects related to Industry 4.0. This individual will assist in engaging with suppliers within the maritime industrial base on matters related to Industry 4.0 - Integration of automation and data exchange in manufacturing. In this capacity you will demonstrate expertise in how Industry 4.0 ideas, concepts, and machinery can lead to more efficient and productive manufacturing in the Maritime Industrial Base. The primary focus will be in support of submarine suppliers, but your efforts will benefit the broader maritime industrial base. This position will be filled remotely within the continental United States and may be divided into regions depending upon location of the individual and/or expertise. You will work out of your home or travel to engage with suppliers . If your desire is to make a difference in the construction and sustainment of the US Maritime Industrial Base, this position is ideal.

In this role, you will:
- Evaluate, qualify and implement industry 4.0 technologies such as robotics, process automation, digital twins, in situ monitoring, AI driven shipbuilding tools and advanced manufacturing systems to increase capability and capacity in the maritime industrial base.
- Support the MIB Industry 4.0 Portfolio lead across all major lines of effort to deploy advanced manufacturing technologies into the public and private shipbuilding industrial base
- Provide programmatic strategic development, technical strategy development, project oversight, and acquisition strategy development
- Coordinate and conduct technical assessments and readiness reviews to ensure solutions meet shipyard and Navy requirements
- Track deliverables, schedules and budgets; provide updates and technical reports to leadership
- Coordinate with industry partners, integrators and government stakeholders to align adoption with program goals
- Liaise with appropriate Technical Warrant Holder (TWH) to maintain currency on policy and requirements for processes, materials, TDPs and applications.
- Support the I4.0 Portfolio lead in response to official takers from senior leadership and across OPNAV, DASN, OSD, Congress, etc.
- This individual will assess the Maritime Industrial Base in its adoption of Industry 4.0 and develop an understanding of the overall requirements and challenges faced by submarine suppliers.
- Works with multiple stakeholders across the region to expedite evaluation, determine critical areas, and assess how to fund MIB efforts that produce optimal return on investment.
- Work with the MIB team which is spread across the United States and is focused on workforce development/marketing, supply chain/sustainment, and technology developments.
- Works closely with shipbuilding suppliers to address critical workforce and supply chain issues they face.
- Evaluates projects and initiatives including capital projects that will increase throughput capacity in the maritime industrial base.
- Develops relationships with local and regional workforce and economic development organizations.
- Drafts information papers in response to Congressional inquiries.
- Travels to regional entities to meet with local stakeholders and suppliers about Industry 4.0.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A bachelor of science degree.
- An active Secret clearance.
- Some experience of industrial equipment and how Industrial 4.0 can be integrated into equipment and the producti on floor.
- 8 years of project or program management experience.
- Proficiency with Office Suite (excel wizard preferred)
- Proficiency in technical writing.
- An understanding of the industrial manufacturing ecosystem is essential.
- Ability to work with people ("people person"), assess situations, and develop recommendations and solve problems that promote the "big picture" and make an impact that assists many, not one.
- 4+ years of experience/knowledge of the maritime/submarine industrial base is a plus, although not necessary.
- 1 year of experience supporting submarine acquisition, maintenance, maritime industry, or operations is a plus.
- Experience conducting Data analysis and presenting results.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral. You will be interacting with industry and senior leadership.
- Customer-oriented team player focused on mission who is self-motivated and driven who can work independently and remotely.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for consideration.
- Approximately 10% travel.
