Koniag Information Technology Services (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an IT Continuity of Operations Planner with a Top Secret clearance to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This on-site role will focus on developing and maintaining comprehensive IT contingency planning and disaster recovery strategies to ensure mission-essential functions can continue during disruptions. The ideal candidate will have experience in IT resilience planning, risk assessment, and disaster recovery within government environments. This position requires on-site presence in Huntsville, Alabama.

Position Description:
The IT Continuity of Operations Planner will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive IT contingency planning and disaster recovery strategies. Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Develop, implement, and maintain IT contingency and disaster recovery plans across all IT Enterprises
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities to IT systems and infrastructure
- Perform business impact analyses to determine critical systems and recovery time objectives
- Develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks and minimize potential disruptions
- Design and implement IT resilience measures to ensure continuity of mission-essential functions
- Coordinate and conduct regular testing of contingency and disaster recovery plans
- Plan and execute tabletop exercises and simulations to validate plan effectiveness
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure stakeholder preparedness for emergency situations
- Document recovery procedures and protocols for various disruption scenarios
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing continuity plans and procedures
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and Army requirements (AR 25-1, AR 25-2, AR 500-3)
- Prepare and submit COOP IT reports according to established guidelines
- Provide monthly status reports, quarterly progress updates, and annual review documentation
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated continuity planning
- Stay current on best practices and evolving standards for IT disaster recovery and business continuity
- Ensure all planning activities adhere to NIST Special Publication 800-34 Rev 1 and DI-MISC-80508B guidelines
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Emergency Management, Business Continuity, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in IT disaster recovery planning, business continuity, or related role
- Experience developing and implementing COOP plans, preferably in a government environment
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and business impact analysis techniques
- Experience with contingency plan testing and exercises
- Top Secret clearance
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Comprehensive understanding of IT continuity of operations and disaster recovery principles
- Knowledge of federal government continuity planning requirements and frameworks
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies and tools
- Familiarity with Army regulations, specifically AR 25-1, AR 25-2, and AR 500-3
- Understanding of NIST guidelines, particularly Special Publication 800-34 Rev 1
- Knowledge of DI-MISC-80508B requirements and documentation standards
- Ability to develop comprehensive continuity and disaster recovery plans
- Experience conducting business impact analyses and determining recovery priorities
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
- Excellent documentation and technical writing abilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience facilitating tabletop exercises and continuity plan testing
- Ability to analyze complex IT environments and develop appropriate recovery strategies
- Understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and interdependencies
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
- Willingness to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar certifications
- Experience working with Army or DoD customers
- Knowledge of Army IT systems and infrastructure
- Experience with enterprise risk management frameworks
- Understanding of cybersecurity incident response procedures
- Experience with backup and recovery technologies and methodologies
- Knowledge of cloud-based disaster recovery solutions
- Experience developing and delivering emergency preparedness training
- Familiarity with change management principles
- Experience with automated monitoring and alerting systems
- Knowledge of compliance requirements for federal IT systems
- Experience with business continuity management software tools
- Understanding of supply chain resilience and contingency planning
