District Partners is exclusively representing a specialized consulting group supporting a federal agency that is driving a large-scale technology modernization effort. This team is seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer (SME level) to build and optimize mission-critical applications. The role is hybrid with 3 days onsite / 2 days remote.

Clearance Requirement

U.S. Citizenship required with an active Public Trust clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of enterprise-scale, data-driven applications.
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists, and engineers to deliver technical solutions.
• Develop, refactor, and test code while documenting workflows and use cases.
• Mentor junior developers and guide engineering best practices.
• Participate in design reviews, solutioning sessions, and milestone planning.

Technology and Qualification Requirements

• 12+ years (BS) or equivalent senior-level experience (20+ HS, 18+ AA, 9+ MS, 7+ PhD).
• Java 8+, OOP, XML/JSON.
• Spring (Microservices, REST APIs), Hibernate ORM.
• Relational DBs (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL), advanced SQL.
• App servers (Tomcat, WebLogic, WildFly, JBoss).
• Containers (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• AWS (EC2, RDS, S3).
• Build/source tools: Maven, Gradle, Bamboo, Git/Bitbucket.
• Distributed systems: Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Elasticsearch, Solr, MySQL.
• NoSQL: MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB.
• CI/CD: Jenkins, Bamboo.
• Unix/Linux scripting.
• Agile/Scrum; Jira/Confluence; IDEs (Eclipse, Jupyter, Zeppelin).
