Senior Software Engineer

MBA Consulting Services, Inc. (MBA CSi) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with over 5 years of relevant experience to support our customer, the US Postal Service (USPS) and its Automation Support Team (AST).

This position is responsible for migration of an existing six node OpenVMS Cluster running APACHE and TOMCAT to an equivalent SUSE Linux system configuration as well as maintaining the system once the migration is complete. This will involve setting up and configuring the Linux cluster, migrating data from the old system, as well as converting various OpenVMS DCL shell scripts to the equivalent Linux scripting functionality.

Prerequisites/Requirements:

• A minimum of five years' Experience with Linux scripting
• A minimum of three years' Experience with APACHE Web Server and APACHE TOMCAT
• A minimum of three years' Experience with OpenJDK
• At least 5 years of experience as a Linux (SUSE) system administrator including setting up Linux clusters
• Able to communicate effectively with developers and other team members
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• The resource will be working on-site at Merrifield

Preferred but not required:

• Experience with OpenVMS
• Experience with public/private keys
• Experience with VISIO (for documentation)
• Recent Windows 2022 administration experience
• The resource will be working at the customer site in the USPS Engineering HQ location in Merrifiel, VA and needs to be able to obtain a US Postal Sensitive Clearance.
