Department Summary:

The Airborne Battle Management and Command and Control (ABMC2) department is seeking a project leader to join our energetic and diverse team of system, electrical, and software engineers and weather enterprise analysts in assisting our sponsors with their most critical mission and acquisition problems. In the weather area, we are assisting our sponsors on a major compute infrastructure and application migration to reduce the enterprise Information Technology footprint, enhance effectiveness of forecasting, improve the ability to predict mission impacts for weather customers, enhance system resilience and ultimately retain air superiority. In particular, this position is to lead the analysis, architecting, design, and risk reduction for the Air Force Weather cloud environment while also cohering related efforts across the company. The project is for an Air Force sponsor and is a collaboration between the Air and Space Force Center and Center for Integrated Transportation.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Strategic work planning with the sponsors to assist in charting the program's future path
  • Tactical work planning with analysts and developers to address ongoing and new tasks as they are identified
  • Developing guidelines and concepts for cloud implementations to include overall enterprise architecture and specific aspects e.g., application programming interface management, cybersecurity, test strategies, etc.
  • Coordinating, planning, conducting and executing data collections to characterize impacts of technical debt and effectiveness of migration strategies
  • Presenting technical recommendations to senior sponsors and other external stakeholders


Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Understanding of Air Force and commercial weather systems and cloud computing concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, communication, and briefing skills to interact with team members, the United States Government, and other external partners including international organizations, nation states and commercial entities
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field and 10 years of related experience
  • An active Top Secret Clearance
  • Previous Task Leader or Project Leader experience including experience doing strategic work planning, forming project teams, managing deadlines, and prioritizing tasking
  • Experience with Amazon Web services
  • Expertise in software development and DevSecOps continuous integration/continuous deployment concepts
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering concepts and tools

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$161,000 - $201,000 - $241,000 Annual
