Job Summary:
Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Operations Lead to manage enterprise IT operations in support of Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This role is responsible for leading command center operations, ensuring reliable delivery of mission-critical IT services, and driving operational excellence through compliance with DoD standards, federal requirements, and industry best practices.
The IT Operations Lead will provide hands-on leadership to IT support staff, manage enterprise operations frameworks, and coordinate with government stakeholders to maintain operational readiness and mission success.
IT Operations Lead Required Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the enterprise operations model for events, incidents, problems, and changes
* Manage Command Center operations, ensuring mission-critical IT services are delivered reliably
* Ensure effective event, incident, problem, and change management processes are in place and followed
* Coordinate with key personnel and teams to maintain operational stability and performance
* Support the implementation and operation of IT Service Management (ITSM) tools
* Ensure compliance with Federal, DoD, DHS, and USCG regulations and standards
* Support risk management, quality management, and performance management activities as part of the Program Management Office (PMO)
* Participate in management meetings, reporting, and governance activities as required by the contract
* Maintain and report on operational metrics, service performance, and trends, recommending continuous improvements
IT Operations Lead Required Skills and Experience:
* Active Secret clearance required (Top Secret/SCI may be required)
* 8+ years of experience in IT operations, network/system administration, or enterprise IT service management
* 5+ years supporting federal IT environments, preferably DHS, DoD, or USCG
* Proven experience managing or supporting federal infrastructure programs and DoD/USCG IT systems
* Direct experience managing Command Center or Enterprise Operations Center operations
* Expertise in IT service management and enterprise frameworks (ITIL v4, DESMF, SIAM)
* Strong knowledge of event, incident, problem, and change management processes
* Proven ability to lead teams in 24/7 mission-critical environments
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure operational settings
IT Operations Lead Required Education & Certifications:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Required)
* CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 certification (Required)
* Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4.0 Certification (Required)
* Service Integration and Management (SIAM) Certification (desirable)
* Additional certifications in enterprise operations tools (BMC Helix, Splunk, ServiceNow, SolarWinds, etc.) a plus
