Job Summary:
Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cybersecurity Lead to support Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The Cybersecurity Lead will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of cybersecurity operations, ensuring compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditations, and leading a team of cybersecurity professionals in protecting mission-critical systems.
This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and deep knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, processes, and tools.
Cyber Security Lead Required Key Responsibilities:
* Manage all aspects of cyber and applicable physical security for the contract
* Ensure all Authority to Operate (ATO) statuses remain current
* Oversee compliance with Federal, DoD, DHS, and USCG security regulations and rules
* Lead and coordinate security incident response, vulnerability management, and risk management activities
* Implement and maintain security controls, policies, and procedures
* Develop and maintain security documentation and artifacts in alignment with federal standards
* Ensure all contractor personnel meet security training and awareness requirements
* Coordinate with USCG Information Systems Security Officers (ISSO) and other security stakeholders
* Support audits, inspections, and continuous monitoring activities
* Maintain required security clearances for self and team
Cyber Security Lead Required Skills and Experience:
* Active Secret clearance required (Top Secret/SCI may be required)
* 10+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or defensive cyber operations supporting federal programs (DHS, DoD, or USCG strongly preferred)
* Deep understanding of federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including, Risk Management Framework (RMF), Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), NIST SP 800-53 Security Controls, and NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
* Expertise in incident response, threat detection, vulnerability management, and SOC practices
* Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and security tools (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners)
* Experience applying ITIL v4, DESMF, and SIAM to cybersecurity service delivery
* Proven ability to lead and mentor cybersecurity teams, building technical depth and workforce resilience
* Demonstrated leadership in incident response, vulnerability management, and enterprise security operations
* Strong ability to influence and build consensus in complex, multi-vendor, or multi-stakeholder environments
Cyber Security Lead Required Education & Certifications:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Required)
* CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 certification (Required)
* At least one advanced certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CASP+, or CEH (Required)
* ITIL v4 certification (desirable)
* Cloud-focused certifications (AWS Certified Security - Specialty, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate) (a plus)
