Position Summary:
Supports engineering activities such as design, validation, modification, and assembly of prototype RF and electro-mechanical systems, and specialized test equipment. Applications include analog, digital and RF circuits and systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written, and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions. Develops test process and detailed testing procedures to collect production data and device conformance to specification. Designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment. Designs test fixtures and equipment, reviews specifications, and test procedures for new products.
Responsibilities:
• Develop test plans, specifications and procedures to allow transfer of products to manufacturing. Performs simulations to define operation to new RF circuits and to verify performance.
• Research test equipment capability and configurations for state of the art testing requirements.
• Develop LabVIEW programming code to drive ATE’s
• Design and build test fixtures as directed from requirements.
• Analyze testing processes to implement cost reduction, manufacturability, and reliability related process changes.
• Support the design, development and evaluation of new RF and electronic products.
• Perform complex ESS and first article testing to qualify new products.
• Perform more complicated and advanced tests requiring considerable judgment in determining work methods, interpreting test results.
• Troubleshoot and repair circuits and fixtures as required.
• Comply with department and corporate procedures and quality initiatives.
• Train other employees as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities when required.
Qualifications/Competencies:
• Expertise in the use of electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, DVM’s, spectrum analyzers, RF synthesizers, vector network analyzers, phase noise test sets, etc.
• Expertise with LabVIEW language or similar.
• Strong instrumentation skills and data acquisition required.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting high power devices and circuits.
• Working knowledge of the design control process.
• Good collaboration skills and ability to work as a team member, as well as have the initiative to work independently with limited supervision.
• Experience prototyping and evaluation of RF electronic assemblies in an R&D or Engineering Lab environment.
• Ability to trouble-shoot components and systems required.
• Ability to read and understand BOMs, electrical/mechanical specifications and blueprints.
• Good verbal, written and organizational skills.
• Ability to complete tasks with minimum supervision.
• Good teamwork, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field of study and 5-7 years of job-related experience.
OR
• Associate's degree or technical college certificate in Electronics and two years of job-related experience or 10 years of directly related job experience.
