Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) – Navy Munitions Command Pacific, CONUS West Division
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 0730–1600
Compensation: $37.50/hour + $4.57/hour Health & Welfare
About the Role
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) provides test and evaluation, systems engineering, logistics, and in-service engineering for U.S. Navy surface ship weapons and combat systems. Within the Sensors, Weapons & Launch Department, the Surface Launched Missile (SLM) Division supports ordnance management, lifecycle sustainment, and logistics for critical missile systems, including Standard Missile, Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM), Tomahawk, and Vertical Launch Systems.
We are seeking a Material Coordinator / Supply Technician to provide inventory, warehousing, stowage, hazardous materials, and equipment management support. This position plays a key role in ensuring mission readiness through proper material accountability, ordnance handling, and compliance with Navy requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Inventory Support:
○ Manage and distribute missile components, repair parts, and ordnance-related material.
○ Perform physical inventories, reconcile discrepancies, and generate status reports (magazine inventory, MLSR, etc.).
○ Update Ordnance Information System-Retail (OIS-R) daily with missile/component status.
○ Identify excess/obsolete materials and process through DLA Disposition Services.
• Container & Canister Support:
○ Conduct corrosion control, cleaning, sanding, touch-ups, re-stenciling, and minor repairs of missile canisters.
○ Operate wash racks, perform filter changes, and ensure compliance with wastewater controls.
• Stowage & Warehousing:
○ Maintain stowage systems for inert and explosive components.
○ Ensure compliance with Navy storage standards, MPPEH/MDAS/MDEH certification, and hazardous material handling.
○ Prepare and submit Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste Reports.
• Equipment & Material Planning:
○ Track, calibrate, and manage over 3,000 tools and 465-line items of consumables.
○ Conduct quarterly inventories of stockrooms and calibration equipment.
○ Maintain Hazardous Material logs, VOC reports, SDS management, and Authorized Use List (AUL).
○ Coordinate return/disposal of unneeded or expired materials.
• Ordnance Handling:
○ Safely move inert and Hazard Class 1.4 explosives using forklifts (including SwingMast side-loaders).
○ Ensure compliance with OPNAV 8023.24, OPNAVINST 4790.2, and NAVSUP P-805 ordnance handling requirements.
Qualifications
• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in:
○ Managing hazardous materials in compliance with federal regulations.
○ Material accountability, tracking, and disposition.
○ Performing and documenting inventory checks/inspections.
○ Managing calibrated tools and equipment.
○ Recording production supply inventory and preparing packages for replacement orders.
• Ability to operate forklifts and material-handling equipment (SwingMast experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Navy ordnance handling, warehousing, and hazardous material safety standards.
