General Summary:
The Senior Director, Human Resources is a high-profile senior leadership role supporting a global matrix environment and providing human resources services, problem solving and business partnership to Executives and other Senior Leaders that enable business results.
This role will specialize in managing a diverse and complex workforce with an emphasis on Aviation in union and non-union environments, with multi-state and multi country locations. The HR Leader will act as the main point of contact for senior business leaders in all operational HR matters and provide expertise and consultation on organizational design, acquisitions, integrations, incentive programs, communication, cultural transformation, performance management, training and development, EEO/AAP compliance, along with employee relations, new hire onboarding, terminations, and layoffs.
The incumbent will also focus on leadership development through informal mentoring, identifying development areas, coaching, and influencing leadership within departments.
This role will support all centralized human resource new and improved initiatives and processes with the aim of harmonizing across business and support teams.
Responsibilities:
Lead team of HR Managers and HR support roles to support business and support team organization.
Develop strong, influential relationships with all levels of the organization to drive HR strategy, seek solutions to complex business and people issues and partner with centralized HR support departments to ensure all employee needs are met.
Develop approaches for and manage the overall scope of various human resources initiatives to include policy, system and program implementations.
Support senior leaders in organization redesign and structural approach to best drive positive business results.
Consult with senior leaders on key potential talent and how to develop, coach and empower them to build bench strength.
Identify culture and change opportunities within departments and sub departments and influence change to drive new behaviors that support growth and business results.
Lead a people first HR philosophy by being responsive, available, and approachable to all employee levels.
Conduct research, determine root causes, develop corrective measures, and implement key HR initiatives to address organizational issues.
Conduct risk assessments for terminations, layoffs, exceptions to policies, and recommend best HR solutions while identifying the consequences for alternative decisions.
Oversee international HR, union, performance management, compensation, and employee relations, as applicable.
Draft responses for Department of Labor Audits and Union grievances.
Supervise, train, and develop HR staff on relevant International, Federal, State, and Local labor laws and federal contracting regulations.
Audit HR practices to ensure compliance with policies, International, Federal, State, and Local statutes and regulations.
Apply HR expertise by offering sound guidance to management and employees on matters of Employment, Benefits/Compensation, Employee/Labor Relations, performance management.
Know, interpret and apply Federal, State, and Local labor laws and make recommendations for appropriate workplace practices implementation
Participate in developing HR’s strategic direction relevant to the organization’s goals and objectives.
Identify changing HR trends and identify industry best practices and feasibility of implementing within company's complex culture.
Leverage resources and obtain leadership buy-in to meet organizational requirements that also drive positive business results.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
12 years of experience in a specialized human resources position and 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
Organization design and development experience through acquisition and/or divestiture.
Able to report to office environment for a minimum of three days a week, with flexibility to work full time in office as business needs dictate.
Demonstrated strong communication skills with different employee levels, to include hourly employees, front-line supervisors, and all levels of leadership including the executive team.
Experience supporting over 1,000 domestic employees in a dispersed multi-state, global environment.
Proven conflict resolution skills to reach satisfactory resolutions of labor relations problems & employee relations issues
This position requires up to 20% travel on an annual basis.
Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
HRCI or SHRM certification.
Master's degree in business administration, human resources, or related discipline
