Shift Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Pay Rate: $56/hour on W2 without benefits
Description:
As a Systems Engineer in this organization, the candidate will have the opportunity to develop and implement systems engineering processes and tools for current and future development and production programs. These activities provide a technical foundation for digital sustainment and decision support for our internal and external customers. The position offers exposure to the entire development life cycle of our products with an emphasis on operations and support.
This position will entail working on a team which develops our model-based sustainment simulation capability, which enables our customers to define and execute supportability trade studies based on the latest fleet performance data, experiment and test the results of anticipated events and choice of responses and make better informed decisions while fully supported with visibility to the options available to them. This capability employs an agile development methodology consistent with the Department of Defense (DoD) requirements and is adaptable to rapidly respond to customer needs.
The systems engineering processes will focus on functional, logical, and operational architectures; requirements development and management; logistics and supply chain network, lifecycle cost and mission analyses. Frequent engagements with other program leaders and subject matter experts is expected and offers broad visibility to diverse programs. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of our future government services programs.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and work well with cross-functional teams including software and data science. The ability to maintain and develop plans/schedules and to monitor and report schedule performance is required. Good oral and written communication are essential to success in this position. Background in one or more of the following areas is preferred but not required: logistics support, modeling and simulation analysis (logistics, operations, cost), software development, integration and test, data science and simulation animation.
Position Responsibilities:
• Develop, document, and verify customer requirements to outline stakeholder scenarios for analysis
• Assess operational availability, mission effectiveness, cost for baseline, adverse part reliability, and mitigation scenarios to transform stakeholder scenarios into trade study requests using pre-configured templates.
• Support the selection, configuration, and implementation of appropriate analysis models to align with outlined stakeholder requirements
• Produce meaningful analysis through evaluation of sustainment strategies to improve fleet performance by integrating models for supply chain and logistics, mission operations, and life-cycle cost
• Coordinate with the customer and present trade-study analysis results at customer engagements in the Virtual Sustainment Center (VSC) using a standard suite of analysis dashboards
• Support modification of simulation models and trade study definitions to address different scenarios and decision support questions.
• Support model optimization tasks and release testing to incorporate capability enhancements into modeling suite
• Support the development and maintenance of product roadmaps and system lifecycle plans.
• Document team plans and status, develop meeting agendas and presentations.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• Operations and logistics modeling experience
• Simulation analysis experience specifically covering both discrete event simulations and trade study models.
• 1+ years of experience in systems engineering (requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design and trade design)
• 1+ years’ experience building stakeholder and customer relationships
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Agile development experience
• Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• Logistics support, modeling and simulation analysis in AFSIM and supply chain
• Software development, integration and test, data science and simulation animation.
Typical Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
