Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Control Systems Software Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and delivery of Machinery Control System (MCS) software for DDG-51 Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers. The selected candidate will interface with U.S. Navy civilian software and systems engineers, support contractors, U.S. Navy ships force, OEMs, and engineering management. This role will contribute to all aspects of the software life cycle including requirements definition, software development, documentation, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically performed at client site locations in an office environment or control system test labs. Additional work may be performed onboard U.S. Navy ships (pier side and at sea), which requires proper safety precautions and the ability to climb shipboard ladders. Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.

EXAMPLES OF PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of the DDG-51 Machinery Control System
- Design, develop, test, install, and maintain Machinery Control Systems (MCS) software and supporting software products
- Identify and document software and system-related problems
- Resolve software issues through debugging, research, and investigation
- Provide distance and onsite support for software problems
- Prepare and maintain new and/or existing software requirements
- Write, review, and maintain technical documentation such as user manuals, product specifications, and training materials
- Participate in special projects as required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Candidate must be available to travel up to 10%
- This position requires a primarily onsite presence at the Land Based Engineering Site (LBES), generally 3 -4 days per week. Remote work may be possible when project tasks allow, but onsite work is expected when needed to support testing, integration, and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited college or university
- 3+ years of experience in software development ( Instruction Set Architecture Languages i.e. Assembly , C++, C, C#, or Java) with the ability and willingness to learn PLC programming through training and on-the-job experience
- Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance
- Must have a valid U.S. passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance, and be a US Citizen
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with or exposure to IEC 61131-3 standards or PLC environments
- Experience designing, developing, testing, and installing software and supporting software products
- Experience writing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation such as software requirements, user manuals, and product specifications
- Basic knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting networked, IP-based systems both onsite and remotely
