One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. MDA is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You'll collaborate within a dynamic and diverse team, engaging physicists, software design and developer, mechanical and microwave engineers to bring these technologies to fruition.

Primary Level Salary Range: $85,400.00 - $134,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You'll Get to Do:
- Work with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to integrate FPGA solutions into larger systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to gather and analyze functional and non-functional requirements specific to AWG, Oscilloscope, RF Synthesizer, and Network Analyzer applications.
- Collaborate with domain experts to execute the hardware functions according to the technical requirements for signal generation, analysis, and measurements.
- Assists in the design, development, and testing of electronic circuits under senior engineer guidance.
- Ensure that the hardware architecture supports responsive and real-time user interactions.
- Participate in the testing of prototype circuits and help troubleshoot issues with design functionality.
- Conducting simulations in the Advanced Design Systems (ADS) platform to perform tests and validate circuit design.
This position is contingent upon clearance.
This position will serve on-site in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD .
Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of experience, a master's degree in a STEM discipline or a PhD and 0 years of relative experience.
- Experience in comprehensive testing of hardware solutions, including unit tests, integration tests, and full system tests.
- Experience with programming languages such as: C/C++, Python, & MATLAB
- The ability to clearly communicate with team members and collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in systems development, integration, and test.
- Experience documenting, preparing, and/or maintaining engineering documentation, including technical reports, design specifications, and test procedures.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite full-time.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen
- Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary US Government security clearance per customer's requirements
Preferred Qualifications for Systems Engineer
- A strong understanding of digital logic, circuit design principles, and FPGA architecture is preferred.
- Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog
- Demonstrated ability to use and implement signal processing algorithms required for AWG, Oscilloscope, RF Synthesizer, Network Analyzer functionalities, etc.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations relevant to electronic instruments, such as safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Experience with creating schematic diagrams and printed circuit board (PCB) layouts using tools such as Cadence
- Participate in Agile and Scrum practices to identify and resolve issues.
- Experience with overseeing Software Integration and Test. i.e. Software Unit tests, Software Integration Tests, and Software User Acceptance Tests.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite full-time.
