JOB SUMMARY :
The Aircraft Painter is responsible for the removal of old substances, the preparation and coating of surfaces on aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices. The Aircraft Painter shall preserve aircraft, aircraft engines, and associated equipment, perform special reseals after parts removal from aircraft and for Process-In/Re-preservation by applying preservative sealant using specialized equipment. All work shall be accomplished IAW technical data/manuals, production work orders, and approved process orders.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS :
- Minimum of five (5) years' related experience in the preparation and painting of AGE/GSE.
- Proficiency with tracking supplies and materials required for workload.
- Good working knowledge of the USAF supply systems, programs, policies and manuals, in addition to proper methods of inventory control and the associated terminology and other accepted or required standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, be able to acquire and maintain any and all necessary security clearances and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Prepares all surfaces/aircraft for painting, to include:
- Removing old paint from AGE/GSE, using, but not limited to, bead blast, paint removers, and scraping.
- Smooths, or roughens specific surfaces, in accordance with procedures, requirements, technical orders, ensuring proper adherence of paint to specific surfaces.
- Performs chemical stripping of paints and primers to facilitate access for maintenance personnel to conduct depot-level modifications and repairs on a variety of aircraft, including F-16 aircraft, other routed items, and associated components.
- Masks and/or covers portions of surfaces not to be painted.
- Coats surfaces with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other materials.
- Operates common tools such as paint guns, sanders, plastic scrapers, high-speed grinders, hydro-blasters, various media blast equipment, and other common hand and pneumatic tools.
- Responsible for ensuring coating and/or painting duties are performed as scheduled.
- Inspect aircraft for dings, dents, corrosion, and loose or missing rivets.
- Tape windows, landing gear, plastic, and fiberglass to protect them from chemicals.
- Utilize safety practices and procedures, including personal protective equipment (PPE), in accordance with established regulations.
- Follow federal and state rules when storing, using, handling, labeling and disposing of hazardous materials.
