JOB SUMMARY :
The Material Expeditor is responsible for receiving, storing, selecting, moving and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment to expedite the process of goods, according to pre-determined schedules and priorities. Must keep related records, review production inventory reports, and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required material and priorities of customer orders. In some instances, the Material Expeditor may be required to transport classified items and therefore will need to obtain and/or hold a secret clearance.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- At least a minimum of two (2) years' related work experience in a distribution warehouse environment.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Good working knowledge of the USAF supply systems, programs, policies and manuals, in addition to proper methods of inventory control and the associated terminology and other accepted or required standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, be able to acquire and maintain any and all necessary security clearances and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Packs, preserves, and crates items for shipment and/or storage.
- Process, store, and issue a variety of aircraft components and DoD special tooling equipment.
- Plan, construct, and repair containers using Special Packaging Instructions (SPI), engineering and process orders, blueprints, technical data and item specifications.
- Preforms standard and specialized preservation and/or packing using various techniques to ensure safe and damage free movement of various aircraft components.
- Aircraft components include large and unbalanced equipment, sensitive electronics, delicate instruments, industrial components, radar antennas, turbine engines and hazardous materials.
- Coordinates shipments with assigned Government representatives to determine location, availability, and condition of material.
- Construct wooden parts or sections used to secure or encase items in containers such as gates, bins, bracing, and install cushioning for fragile items.
- Coat, treat, and maintain the integrity of surfaces using standard application procedures (spray, roller or brush) to protect boxes and tooling from extreme environmental conditions.
- Locates and moves materials to specified production areas using cart or hand truck.
- Records quantity and type of materials distributed and on hand.
- Prepare and process required documentation, special handling labels, shipping codes, and required safety data.
- Direct Power-Truck Operator or Material Handling Laborer to expedite movement of materials between storage and production areas.
- Preform and document vehicle operator checks and ensure vehicles are maintained in a ready state of use or turn in for repairs when required.
- Perform all necessary preparatory work including covering gaps and filling surfaces/seams using spackle and other filling materials.
- Operate and maintain various types of hand pneumatic and power tools.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Other related duties, as required.
