Research Lab Technician III

Piper Companies is seeking a Research Laboratory Technician III to join a top-tier research organization located in the greater Baltimore area on a full-time onsite basis. This is an exciting opportunity to support cutting-edge research in virology and immunology within high-containment laboratory environments. The Lab Tech III will play a critical role in supporting scientific studies, maintaining laboratory standards, and contributing to the development of vaccines and therapeutics.

Responsibilities of the Research Laboratory Technician III Include:

• Support studies involving non-human primates (NHP), swine, and rodents, including virus inoculations and sample processing.
• Conduct laboratory analyses such as CBC, chemistries, ELISA, Western Blot, PCR, and plaque assays.
• Perform cell culture and other molecular biology techniques.
• Test vaccines and therapeutic compounds against various viruses.
• Mentor junior staff in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratory environments.
• Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment; manage inventory and prepare for inspections.
• Participate in safety inspections and ensure compliance with biosecurity regulations.
• Document experiments in accordance with study protocols and regulatory standards.
• Submit technical reports and assist with data analysis and report generation.
• May require CONUS/OCONUS travel to support studies or present findings.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications of the Research Laboratory Technician III Include:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or equivalent professional experience.
• An active security clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain one.
• Ability to maintain BPRP and CS-PRP statuses.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, matrixed environment.

Preferred:

• Active security clearance.
• Previous experience in BSL-2, BSL-3, or BSL-4 laboratory environments.
• Proficiency in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and animal research.
• Familiarity with GFEBs ordering system.
• Experience with clinical diagnostics and regulatory laboratory procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Compensation of the Research Laboratory Technician III Includes:

• Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 (commensurate with experience)
